Assessment and Testing

At the end of Year 2 (end of Foundation Phase) and at the end of Year 6 (end of Key Stage 2) the pupils are teacher assessed and given an end of phase outcome or level.

The expected outcome at end of Foundation Phase is Outcome 5, and levels (2 – 5) accordingly in English, Maths and Science at end of Key stage 2.

Formative assessment is recognised as part and parcel of each pupil’s development. Each and every day, teachers will be making professional judgements on a child’s progress to assist with future planning. In addition, as of May 2013, every child in Years 2– 6 will sit a National Reading and Numeracy test in line with the Welsh Assembly Government Literacy, Numeracy Framework (LNF). These results are reported back to parents.

PASS (Pupils’ Attitudes to Self and School) is an on-line survey that all years from 3 – 6 take annually.
